
This will help you use Hibernation and Standby modes to conserve power and reduce unnecessary hardware usage. For instance, both monitor and hard drive can be placed into a low power state instead of shutting down the computer
To Configure Hibernation and Standby modes:
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance, Power Options.
- Click the Hibernate tab and check the Enable hibernate box.
- Click the Power Schemes tab. Choose the time options for Standby and Hibernation modes to begin.
To Awaken a Computer:
- For Standby mode – press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse.
- In Hibernation mode – press the power button once (quickly).
Note: Computers take longer to wake up from Hibernate mode.
