How do I get Outlook, Exchange Client, etc.. to the users' home directory?

By default, Outlook, Exchange Client, and other programs will save attachments and messages and files in the /personal folder of the user profile. Beside making the profile bigger, taking longer to load, it is better to centralize user files. Edit (while the user is not logged on):

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

HKEY_USER\<SID>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Personal

and change the path to the user home directory (%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH% will work).

To modify this for new (not yet created) users, select the HKEY_USERS hive and Load Hive. Navigate to

%SYSTEMROOT%\Profiles\Default User\ntuser.dat

When prompted for a Key Name, type JSI. Select the JSI key and edit:

JSI\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Personal

Change the value to %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%. Select the HKEY_USERS\JSI key and Unload Hive.
